No Matter What You Know, Read History.

History is indispensable in human life as it helps us understand the past and probably envision how the future would possibly be.

By saying that it's important to learn history, I don't mean you should go reading it always –if you are not a student of it- but at least try to know the essential things that took place historically.

Indeed the significance of history can't be overemphasized as it helps us understand our past and gives us the light of the future. History connote a lot of things, you will only understand this if you are dealing with it.

There was a time, I can't actually recall what happened, while having a discussion with my uncle Hamza Dawaki I talked to him about a book I had just bought, possibly a Bidaya of Ibn Rushd (Islamic Jurisprudence), he said to me he then prefer reading history, because you can find almost everything in it. Similarly, Prof. Nuhu M Idris, while he was teaching us, at the time of the lecture he used to cite cases -both the old and the recent ones. He then was asked by a student, then while answering the question he cited some instances from history as he used to do –sometimes. The learned professor then told us that no matter what you read try to read history. He had even said as you can see I sometimes cite from History.

From the duo persons, my uncle and my learned Prof. and other circumstances of life, I understand that it's crucial to understand history even a little. The little you could know can't make you a historian, just deploy it as a tool to grasp the other things around you.
